In the Community

We are pleased to announce that John Mayfield has been officially endorsed by the Kansas City Star.  Per the Star article:

“District 20: Democrat John A. Mayfield, a bank analyst, has many positive ties to this newly created eastern Jackson County district, including chairman of the Independence Human Relations Commission and past service on the Independence School District Review Committee. He is a better fit than GOP first-term incumbent Brent Lasater.”

We are thrilled that the Kansas City Star is recognizing John as someone who has already proven himself to be committed to the Independence community, through his service to further advance the success of our school district, as well as his commitment to ensure that every citizen living in the Independence area is treated with respect.

The 20th District needs a leader such as John in Jefferson City.  It is well past time that we have a representative who is willing to stand up and fight for the values and issues that are important to the citizens of Independence and we are glad that the Kansas City Star has recognized that John is the person best suited for the job.

John met with Governor Nixon on October 14th in Jefferson City.  The Governor expressed his solid support of Mayfield’s campaign and expressed that John is his choice to lead the 20th District, stating “You are that leader”.  Governor Nixon is eager to have John working for the citizens of theIndependence area and believes that he will be a real asset to the community and is the ideal person to bring back positive change to the area.

John was recently interviewed by the Independence Examiner about how he stands on certain issues.  Please check out the article on the Examiner’s website!

John spoke to a crowd of supporters that were gathered for a rally on September 19th for Governor Nixon, at the Nixon for Missouri headquarters.   John gave an rousing speech that energized the crowd!

After the rally, John was able to speak with the Governor about issues that are impacting his district.

On August 18th, John joined forces with Clint Zweifel to knock doors in the Independence area. Mr. Zweifel is running for reelection to the office of Missouri State Treasurer.
